CSD Computer Services is a one stop ‘computer solutions' consulting
company. Having been in the business for so long, has allowed him to
develop relationships with other computer professionals so that he can
sub-contract out work when necessary so that the customers special
needs or time-line can be met.
CSD Computer Services does system design, programming (including website), system administration and training. For projects that require artistic design, I have sub-contractors that I have used for 5+ years. I will also work with your artist if you prefer.
Dr. C.Joseph Drayton, Ph.D. AS&T has been working with computers for more than 30 years, and has worked with small one-man operation businesses. He has also worked with businesses that have 1,000 workstation systems and government agencies.
The basic philosophy of the company is that even 'companies' are
individuals. When a company buys off the rack, they are often times
forced to modify how they do business to meet the way the software they
are using works. What I have done, is create some skeletons fr
different types of businesses. These skeletons are generic and
basically
cover common business practices within a given business. The customer
than can request changes to that skeleton so that the software will
meet their needs rather than trying to meet the software's needs.
because those skeletons already exist, the development time for a
custom piece of software drops considerably. These skeletons are also
designed to interact with one another. What this basically does, is
allow the customer to have skeletons 'fleshed-out' when they need them.
For large projects, having this flexibility makes it easier to create a
project time-line and allows the customer to work out a budget for
their time-line.
Dr. Drayton considers his communication skills to be one of the major reasons for his success. As a Toastmaster (ATM-Bronze), he has learned both the speaking and listening skills to assist a client in getting the ‘computer solution' they are looking for.
Dr. Drayton also believes strongly in not re-inventing the wheel. If a client has a partial system that is meeting their needs, then whenever possible, he will try to integrate the existing system into the new ‘computer solution'. This saves the client both time and money.
Dr. Drayton was the Director of Systems Engineering for a computer consulting company in the Pacific Northwest from January 1994 until December of 2005. Although he enjoyed the work he spent more time doing administration then design & programming. In March of 2006 he decided to begin consulting again but to do it as a one-man operation (sub-contracting out work on a need-to basis). Part of the reason for doing this is because over the years, he has started on a number of personal programming projects that work never let him complete. He will spend the down time from CSD Computer Services completing those projects. When the projects are completed, he will release them as freeware or shareware.
